BanyanTree Growth Capital invested $15mn (Rs. 70 crore) in Deepak Fasteners Limited (“DFL”) for a minority stake. BanyanTree will have a Board representation.
Ludhiana based DFL is the largest manufacturer of specialty industrial fasteners. It is promoted by the Kalra family. DFL will use the funds for expansion of capacity and geographic reach. It plans to raise Rs. 250 crore in the next one year for expansion.

Hindalco is looking for overseas copper mines inorder to meet its own raw material supplies.Hindalco Industries Ltd operates copper mines in Australia under its unit, Aditya Birla Minerals.
It has expansion plans to set up additional 1.90 million tonnes of aluminium and produce 6 million tonnes of alumina by fiscal 2016-17 and has planned for a capex of Rs.100 bn in 2010-11 for its greenfield projects.
