Amas India Investment Mauritius limited has sold its entire 3.11% stake in Genesys International through bulk deals. The FII sold 4,00,000 shares at BSE and 5,29,458 on NSE at R191 per share aggregating to R17.75 Cr.

Meanwhile, Credo India Thematic Fund has bought around 921659 shares.

The fund has also sold around 2.11% stake of Kavveri Telecom by offloading 3,00,000 shares on NSE for R219.99 and 1,25,000 shares on BSE for R219,93 aggregating to R9.34 Cr, while Credo India Thematic Fund has bought all the shares (4,25,000).

2) Kamdhenu To Raise Funds For Expansion

Kamdhenu Group is planning to raise R100 Cr for its paint division and is in talks with PE firms. The fund will be used for setting up an alkyd resin plant to reduce reliance on external sources for raw material procurement and meeting working capital needs.

Kamdhenu Ispat, which is mainly into manufacturing of TMT bars and structural steels for use in the construction sector, had forayed into the paints business in 2008 by setting up a plant near its steel mill at Bhiwadi in Rajasthan.

KKR & Co LP is planning to launch an India specific debt fund. The LP is planning to raise $750 Mn to $1 Bn for their fund.

The fund is looking for opportunities in debt market citing country’s four year high interest rate. The fund will also lend to cash-strapped Indian corporations.

4) StanChart PE Invests In INOXCVA

Standard Chartered PE has invested $45Mn in INOXCVA, a manufacturer of cryogenic storage and transportation equipment. The funds will be used for its organic expansion plans and potential acquisitions.

Yes Bank advised INOX for the transaction. Khaitan & Co. and Wadia Ghandy & Co. were the legal advisors for INOXCVA and Stan Chart PE respectively.

7) Avigo Capital To Sell Spykar Lifestyles' Stake

Avigo Capital is planning to sell its 60% stake in Spykar Lifestyle. Buyout fund Riverside and three European fashion retailers are interested to acquire the stake.

8) Actis Invests In TPG Backed AGS Transact

Actis PE has invested R220 Cr in AGS Transact Technologies Limited, an ATM outsourcing and payments company.

The funds raised will be used for ATM outsourcing expansion by AGS on behalf of banks and support roll-outs under the recent PSU contract of AGS in Himachal Pradesh, Haryana and Chandigarh.

Last June, TPG Group had invested R145 Cr with a follow-on investment of R45 Cr in March this year.

Sanlam Mauritius had proposed to hold not more than 26% stake in Shriram Capital through Shriram Financial Ventures (Chennai) Pvt. Ltd. which was to be done by subscribing to equity shares of up to 49.9% of the fully paid up equity share capital of Shriram Chennai.

Reliance Life Insurance is looking to sell 5% stake in the company to banks for expanding base in the bancassurance channel.

Gitanjali Gems Limited has acquired 15.3% stake in Verite Co. Ltd, a Japanese jewellery retail chain through its Hong Kong subsidiary Aston Luxury Group Limited.

This acquisition also brings a 50% supply contract to Gitanjali from Verite for its 101 jewellery retail stores in Japan.

5) Bilcare Sells GCS Unit To United Drug

Bilcare Limited signed an agreement with United Drug Plc. for the sale of its Global Clinical Supplies (GCS) businesses in the U.S and U.K.

The deal is valued at $61 Mn and is expected to go through in a couple of months.

GCS is one of three divisions of Bilcare and the company has retained this business in Asia.

1) Wave Infratech To Raise Funds Through Debt-Equity Mix

Wave Infratech - part of Ponty Chadha’s Wave Group, is planning to raise around R4000 Cr in the next two months through debt and PE to fund investments in developing the first phase of a township in Noida.

The project is a 152-acre integrated township at Noida named 'Wave City Centre'. First phase of the project includes R10,000 Cr outlay including the land cost. Total size would be 40 Mn sq.ft, of which the company would develop about 10 Mn sq.ft in the first phase to be delivered by 2016.

Wave Infratech has given mandate to IDFC for arranging debts from banks and it can dilute 25% stake in the first phase of the project, MD Manpreet Singh Chadha said.

2) ABG Shipyard Stake Sold By Nippon, Bought By Videocon

Nippon Investment and Finance Company Pvt. Ltd. sold part stake in ABG Shipyard Limited through the open market and the stake was bought by Videocon Industries Ltd.

Nippon sold 5.5 lakh shares at R366 per share amounting to a sale of R20.13 Cr and the same was bought by Videocon. Nippon had bought the stake at the end of July this year by acquiring 5.14 lakh shares for a total of R19.35 Cr.

Strides Arcolabs' injectable-drugs unit, Agila Specialties Private Limited is up for sale and 'serious bidders' for the asset are Novartis and Pfizer along with U.S buyout fund KKR, ET stated.

Strides is expecting to receive anywhere between $1.6-2 Bn for the unit - more than twice its market value.

Strides provides Pfizer with generic versions of off-patent drugs through a partnership announced in 2010.

Orbit Corp is planning to sell multiple planned projects in Mumbai to raise funds and reduce debt, according to Mint. The company is planning to raise around R400 Cr through exiting a slum redevelopment project in Santacruz (R300 Cr) and by selling its plots of land in Tardeo, Worli and Lalbaug in central Mumbai to other developers (R100 Cr). The company is in talks with several developers. 
 
The company is also willing to sell all or some of its stake in the Kilachand bungalow in south Mumbai later. Orbit Corp has around 50% stake in the property of Kilachand bungalow.

6) Wipro Planning Acquisitions In The Furniture Space

7) South African Gas Block Acquired By Cairn India

Cairn India Limited ventured out of India and bought its first asset in a deep-sea gas discovery block on the west coast of South Africa.

The company bought 60% stake in the 19922 sq.km Block 1 in Orange Basin and has signed a farm-in agreement with South African national oil firm Petroleum Oil and Gas Corporation of South Africa Ltd (PetroSA).

8) ONGC To Rope In Japan's Inpex in KG Block

ONGC is planning to sell 26% stake in its KG-DWN-2004/6 block in the KG - basin to Japanese Inpex Corporation, according to BS. Inpex Corporation being a global player will provide technological support for exploration and drilling of blocks.

If the deal goes through, Inpex will pay ONGC what it has spent on the block in the past proportionately and also meet future expenses according to its share. ONGC is also looking to sell stakes in other holding blocks.

The block KG-DWN-2004/6 was awarded to a consortium of ONGC (60%), HPCL (10%), GSPC (10%), GAIL (10%) and OIL (10%) under NELP – VI bidding round. The production-sharing contract for the block was signed on March ’07.

9) Tata Global Acquires Russian Firm - SuntyCo Holding

Tata Global Beverages Limited has acquired the balance 49% of SuntyCo Holding Limited, the owner of the 'Grand' business in Russia.

Tata Global through one of its overseas subsidiary along with European Bank of Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) had acquired 51% of SuntyCo Holding in 2009.

The company through its overseas subsidiary has now completed the acquisition of the balance 49% of the Grand business in Russia by exercising the option it had to acquire this stake at the time of the original acquisition, according to the BSE filing.

The MF - through IDFC Small and Midcap Equity SME Fund sold 220217 shares at R670.02 per share amounting to R14.75 Cr. The fund was not listed as a major stakeholder with the company and thus seems to have exited fully.

Peepul Capital LLC has invested around $15-$25 Mn each in Consul Consolidated Private Limited, a power solution company, and Cura Healthcare Private Limited, a high-end radiology equipment maker.

Consul Consolidated was founded in 1981 by N Ramesh Sankaran,  K N Raja,  K Sunder, and N P Krishnan. Based in Chennai, Consul manufactures PCE such as voltage stabilisers, uninterrupted power supply (UPS) systems, isolation transformers, and lighting energy savers.

6) GAIL May Acquire Stake In Russian Gas Plant

GAIL India Limited is planning to buy stake in the planned 10 Mn tonne LNG plant at Vladivostok on the Pacific coast in Russia.

The acquisition would be to cater to the growing energy needs of India and thus import the natural gas from Russia.

The plant is a $7 Bn project and the Russian gas monopoly Gazprom looks to start output of LNG by 2016-2017.

7) ICICI Raises Funds Through International Bond Sale

ICICI Bank has raised $750 Mn through issue of 5.5 year fixed rate notes carrying coupon rate of 4.70%.
 
The notes were issued at 99.813% (of the value of the bonds), which is a spread of 364 basis points over the equivalent LIBOR, according to BSE filing.

Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Citi, HSBC, J.P. Morgan and Stan Chart Bank were the lead arranger.

8) Mystery Shopping Firm RedQuanta Gets Seed Funds

RedQuanta secured a round of seed funding from various investors including India Quotient, Blume Ventures, India Venture Partners and other angel investors, Startupcentral reports. The amount of money received is undisclosed.

India Quotient had commenced its debut fund in June this year and had listed RedQuanta in its portfolio at that time.

NBFC from Gujarat - MAS Financial Services Limited has raised growth capital from DEG - Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft mbH.

According to Financial Express, ICICI Venture has exited the NBFC and DEG invested EUR 10 Mn in the firm.

Avendus Capital was the financial advisor to MAS Financial Services Ltd.

Earlier in May, IFC was planning to invest around $12 Mn in the company to expand the capital base and its operations.
